Excelsior Maassluis' Old Stars Walking Footballers hosted the MSV'71 team last Thursday for a social event. The day began with a joint warm-up and featured walking football matches followed by a shared meal.
The event took place at Excelsior Maassluis' Sportpark. After a warm-up with light stretching, mixed teams were formed for matches played under walking football rules. This was followed by a 'Third Half' with coffee, soup, a kroket sandwich and fresh fruit, served outdoors.
Egbert van der Worp, one of the participating Old Stars, explained the day's purpose. "Sport, fun and meeting people is our main goal," he said.
The activity for older players comes as Excelsior's first team enjoys a strong start to the season. The side sits seventh in the Eredivisie with 11 points from 7 games. The next match is at home against Groningen, who are eighth, on 11 October. The last five league results read DLDWW.
