Excelsior host FC Groningen in the Eredivisie on Sunday 11 October.

Excelsior currently sit seventh in the Eredivisie table with eleven points from seven matches. The Rotterdam-based club has scored fifteen goals while conceding nine so far this season. Captain Aymen Sliti is the team's top scorer with three goals in seven appearances.

Excelsior's form has been inconsistent in recent weeks. A 2-1 win over Sparta Rotterdam and a 0-3 away victory at Willem II were followed by draws against NEC Nijmegen and Ajax. Their last match ended in a 2-2 draw with Ajax, with goals from Lennard Hartjes and Aymen Sliti. The full lineup and match stats from that game are available on our squad page.

Groningen, who visit in eighth place, are coming off a 4-1 win over ADO Den Haag but were heavily beaten by PSV prior to that. Excelsior will need to be wary of the visitors' counter-attacking threat.

The home side is expected to have a largely fit squad available for selection. Kick-off is at 16:45 local time and the match will be broadcast on regular channels. A look at the current standings shows a win could further solidify Excelsior's position in the top half.
